How to Unlock All Playable Characters and Assistants in Dr. Mario World

It's time to get to work.
Dr. Mario World Dr. Mario

There are three playable characters that are immediately available to choose from after the tutorial for Dr. Mario World has been completed. Players can control Dr. Mario, Dr. Peach or Dr. Bowser. That being said, there are seven other playable characters just waiting to be unlocked.

The first step is to finish the tutorial. After finishing the tutorial and making your way past level 10, you will be given the option to play as one of the three characters previously mentioned. Once the decision has been made, the character chosen will become the one and only character available to the player. To unlock the other two starting character options and the seven other playable characters, you will have to do a little work.

To get things started, you will need to make your way through stage 20. After making it past this part of the game, you will be able to begin unlocking characters.

Next, make your way to the “Characters” menu at the bottom of your screen. Then, select the “Staffing” option. From there, you can spend 4,000 coins or 40 diamonds to unlock a single randomized playable character.

You will earn coins by playing the game, as this Dr. Mario World’s main currency. However, you will have to spend money on micro-transactions if you want to earn some diamonds. However you decide to pay for your randomized character, there is a catch.

The same character can be randomly selected upon purchase multiple times. Consequently, it will likely take far more than nine purchases to unlock all of the characters. Beyond that, there is also a chance that you will unlock an assistant. We will discuss more on that later.

If you randomly purchase the same character twice, don’t fret. It’s not a total loss.

By earning another version of the same character, the skill level for that character will be raised within your roster. This is somewhat of a consolation prize to actually earning a new character, but can still prove useful within the game.

Once a character reaches their maximum skill level, you will no longer randomly pull them from the playable character purchase option. You may view a complete list of every playable character in Dr. Mario World down below.

How to Recruit Assistants in Dr. Mario World

Dr. Mario World Available Assistants

While there are many playable characters to unlock, there are even more assistants out there waiting to be revealed. In total, there are 30 assistants you can utilize in Dr. Mario World.

Just like when unlocking playable characters, you will first have to complete level 20 within the game. Next, you will need to make your way to the “Characters” menu at the bottom of your screen.

Next, make your way to “Staffing.” From there, you can spend coins and diamonds to earn playable characters or to recruit these assistants.

Assistants each offer unique passive abilities to aid you within the game. You can have up to two assistants equipped at any time. To equip an assistant, make your way back to the “Characters” menu and then select the “+” button at the top of your screen.
