Nintendo’s President of America Reggie Fils-Aime Retires, Replaced by Bowser

After nearly 13 years as the president and chief operating officer of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime has now decided to retire. A new president of Nintendo of America has already been chosen, being none other than Doug Bowser. Reggie Fils-Aime quickly won over the hearts and minds of many Nintendo fans with his gentle and open demeanor. Fans would go on to form memes of the Nintendo of America president, such as can be found below. In a joint statement on Thursday, however, Fils-Aime and Nintendo of America announced that the company’s president and COO would be retiring this spring. Current senior vice president of sales and marketing Doug Bowser has since been chosen to replace Fils-Aime as president of Nintendo of America. ‘Zelda: Link’s Awakening’ Remake

It was just recently announced that a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening will be dropping in 2019. I have never played the original, but from what I saw in the trailer, this game looks beautiful. The sequel to A Link to the Past, Link’s Awakening deals with hero Link stranded on a strange island after washing ashore while out at sea. I am excited to cintinue this specific Link’s story and see what his destiny holds for him. After the success of releasing A Link Between Worlds (which was basically a remake itself), it seems like a no-brainer for Nintendo to release a remake of Link’s Awakening. Originally released for the Game Boy, this remake is a great fit for the Nintendo Switch system, which can be played as a console or in mobile form. Rather it was Super Mario Brothers or Doom, these games offered such insurmountable challenges that it was as if the bits of software were maliciously sentient. Now, however, there is a stark contrast. But, don’t worry. Things have definitely changed over the years, but they have changed for the better. Within the ages of Atari, NES, SNES, PlayStation, and Xbox, games were simply different. Games were not as long. With only a few hours worth of content programmed into each piece of software, video game developers were met with a unified issue. Players were finishing their games far too quickly. There are two things I love in life that when mixed are the perfect combination, and that is Mario and America’s greatest pastime. Sure, realistic games like MLB The Show are fun, but it’s way more entertaining to play against friends with a roster filled with Mario and his pals and enemies. I’m sorry, it just is. Mario Superstar Baseball is a game that I am always down to play. I still have my Gamecube (the Gamecube Mario ball is better than the Wii’s) and will take on anyone who is foolish enough to challenge me to a game of five innings. We’re turning off power-ups though; power-ups are a total scrub move. ‘Super Mario World’ Still Holds Up

One of my favorite early memories in life was playing on my grandpa’s Super Nintendo as a kid. Sure, there was a pool, a swing-set, and a huge backyard to do pretty much anything, but I was always drawn to the Nintendo. I looked forward to loading up my save files and continuing my journey from last time on the road trip. Super Mario World was one of my favorites. It was such a beautiful world, a side-scrolling game that was simple enough yet challenging at the same time. This game was great back then, and it still holds up today. The first thing about this game is how amazing it looked for the time. The colors all pop and the graphics on this game are so much better than its Super Mario Bros. 3 predecessor on the original NES.
