“Oops,” Dev Apologizes After Crashing Game on Epic Store

For quite some time the Steam store has been gamers’ one stop shop for all PC gaming. Epic Games has since decided to offer some stiff competition. However, one of the program’s recent free games has suffered a minor setback. Following the meteoric rise of the battle royal phenomenon that is Fortnite, parent company Epic Games decided to offer their own platform for digital PC game sales. To help themselves stand out from among the dominant force of Steam, Epic Games Store has been giving away free games every two weeks to the store’s loyal customers. Among them, the famous metroidvania title Axiom Verge recently hit the Epic Games Store as part of the free games service. However, the title hit a bit of a snag. A new Nintendo Direct is scheduled as of tomorrow, February 13th. Many upcoming games, both announced and unannounced, have the potential to be covered and revealed, including Animal Crossing, the mainline Pokemon game for the Switch, and the recently released hit Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The first of Ultimate’s DLC characters, Joker from Persona 5, has been announced already. Due to be included in the game this month, he will likely be featured in this month’s Direct. But a new, yet unannounced character may emerge as well. It’s always exciting to see who will be drafted next into the Smash roster, and with four more DLC characters coming after Joker, it could be a motley crew indeed. There are two things I love in life that when mixed are the perfect combination, and that is Mario and America’s greatest pastime. Sure, realistic games like MLB The Show are fun, but it’s way more entertaining to play against friends with a roster filled with Mario and his pals and enemies. I’m sorry, it just is. Mario Superstar Baseball is a game that I am always down to play. The Nintendo Switch is a smashing success. With millions of consoles having sold worldwide, Nintendo has put a truly historical gaming machine on the market. That being said, it would appear that the company is far from done iterating on the console. The Nintendo Switch went on sale back in March 2017. A hybrid console, the Switch is uniquely designed to be played from the couch as well as on the go. Just as with the Wii and WiiU, the Switch has been experiencing incredible hardware sales. As of the end of 2018, over an estimated 32 million consoles have been sold worldwide. As well as the console is selling, Nintendo is potentially now looking to buff things up even further. There’s no other hero out there quite like Link. Our tunic-wearing friend has spent generations defending Hyrule and other areas from imminent doom. A man of action and few words, Link has the courage that most of us can only ever dream of having. While there are several worthy Links, there is only one that is THE Link. That’s Link from Ocarina of Time (the greatest game of all-time) and Majora’s Mask. One of the things that makes this Link the best is his backstory. He starts off as a lonely, fairy-less boy in Kokiri Forest. He really has only one true friend in Saria, and I only wish that you could slash the arrogant Mido to bits or break a pot over his skull. One of my favorite early memories in life was playing on my grandpa’s Super Nintendo as a kid. Sure, there was a pool, a swing-set, and a huge backyard to do pretty much anything, but I was always drawn to the Nintendo. I looked forward to loading up my save files and continuing my journey from last time on the road trip. Super Mario World was one of my favorites. It was such a beautiful world, a side-scrolling game that was simple enough yet challenging at the same time. This game was great back then, and it still holds up today. The first thing about this game is how amazing it looked for the time. The colors all pop and the graphics on this game are so much better than its Super Mario Bros. 3 predecessor on the original NES. Indeed: as of this week, the game’s first DLC fighter, Piranha Plant, has gone live. Since its inception in 1996 on the Nintendo 64, the Super Smash Bros. series’ biggest draw — its hook that no other games can swing — is that it is the ultimate crossover (sorry, Marvel) of Nintendo characters. In no other game can stealth operative Solid Snake be slapped around by a sentient pink puffball. That description could even be referring to multiple characters, which shows how diverse the Smash fighter roster really is. There was something magical about creating your Mii. Picking out your hair, eyes, height weight, favorite color, it was all such a mystical experience. Soon, my Mii wasn’t enough. I had to have more. My brothers and I would binge-create Mii’s until our Mii Channel was full of a Mii mob. We would create Mii’s modeled after family, friends, and even characters from tv and movies. The Mii addiction was all too real. We needed help. Creating Mii’s was always entertaining. If you were bored, try creating some of the most absurd Mii’s as possible. It was such a creative, refreshing idea. The fun thing with a horde of Mii’s in your plaza was that they would pop up in your games.
